Sorrento Italian Restaurant & Pizza was opened in 1975 by the Colicchia family. They came from Brooklyn, New York in the 60's and settled in Concord. In 1978 the Caturegli family bought Sorrento. Mr. Colicchia was going to stay on for a short time during the transition and stayed for 10 years .... A friendship and a respect was established that still lives on today. We always look forward to a visit from Pete & Aida.

The Caturegli family came from Italy in 1955 and moved to the North Beach district in San Francisco, where Joe started working in restaurants at age 15. By 1967 he had his own restaurant in North Beach and brought his old world recipes and family style dinners to the East Bay. He always believed in homemade food — made with the finest ingredients. His breads, pastas, pizza dough and sauces are made on the premises. At lunch time you can observe the huge pots of meat sauce cooking on the stove, and oooh, it smells so good.

Sorrento's pizzas are New York style, hand tossed with their homemade dough. Young chefs, Paolo & Rob are introducing new dishes, desserts and fine wines. Sara & Daniella are happy to serve you in the dining room. They are the new upcoming Sorrento generation. Though Sorrento's holds on to the "old" traditions that will never change, it is constantly improving. In the last 29 years, Sorrento's has seen many generations, and because of a great staff & an abundance of loyal customers, we are proud to continue serving you going on our 30th year!

Mille Grazie — The Caturegli Family
